Français

As the founder of S&A, François Sauvageau has brought to life his vision of a small Toronto Boutique Law firm who could represent its Québec, Ontario & International clients in both French & English.

Starting his law studies in 1996. François has consecutively earned three law degrees, including a civil law degree, a common law degree and a Master of International Business Law. François is an active member of the Quebec and Ontario Bars.

Following his studies, he was selected out of a nation-wide competition for a prestigious articling position with the judges of the Federal Court of Appeal. His experience at the Court was invaluable both from an academic and practical perspective. He had a chance to observe and review the work of many imminent lawyers on a variety of matters. Amongst other things, his work at the Court also enabled him to develop a strong knowledge in various areas of the law such as Individual and Corporate Tax Litigation, Judicial Review of Federal administrative bodies, Immigration, Employment Insurance, Intellectual Property, Trademarks and Pharmaceutical Law as well as Maritimes and International Trade Law. Above all, his experience at the Court has taught François that cases are most often won through flawless and strategic preparation as well as tireless efforts, which are all to be done before to face the Bench.

François believes that a solid lawyer must be aware and open to the continual interaction between a given specialization and all other areas of the law. He has written extensively on a wide variety of topics. Some of his papers and articles are listed below:

  • Accidental Death Post Martin: Case Law Update, A Critical Looks at Exclusion Clauses and the Presumption Against Suicide (Co-authored by Helen Sava)
